Day 85: A Day of Relaxation and Exploration in Duncannon
Today was a day of rest and exploration in the quaint town of Duncannon. The group, consisting of Brock "Dubs" Miller, Shooter, Big Stick, and Birdy, decided to take it easy after a strenuous hike the day before. They began the day by enjoying a leisurely breakfast at the convenience store, followed by a quick stop at the outfitter to pick up a few essentials.
What made this day truly special was their visit to The Pub. They found a cozy corner, charged their devices, and enjoyed some refreshing beverages. Dubs even managed to squeeze in some work on his blog posts! As the afternoon progressed, they indulged in lunch and more drinks, and perhaps a few tequila shots, adding a touch of excitement to their day.
However, the highlight of their adventure was a visit to the Church Hostel in town. The hostel, located in the basement, offered a comfortable stay with a nice bathroom, shower, and kitchen facilities. It was a welcome change from setting up tents in the wilderness. After settling in, they treated themselves to some delicious ice cream from the local shop, a well-deserved reward for their efforts.
But the day wasn't over yet! They returned to The Pub for dinner and more drinks, playing music on the jukebox and enjoying the lively atmosphere. As the sun set, they headed back to the Church Hostel, content with a day filled with relaxation, exploration, and delicious treats.
Despite the lack of hiking, the group had a memorable day in Duncannon, creating new memories and enjoying the local culture. It's these moments of leisure and connection that make the Appalachian Trail journey so unique and rewarding.
